Dear Friends,
On Monday April 15 our country experienced a horrible tragedy. At the Boston Marathon, the unimaginable happened. A terrorist placed bombs at the finish line and forever changed the lives of many innocent people. Our dear friend was there with his family to watch his daughter cross the finish line.
John Odom was one of the most critically injured in this terrible event. We are following John's progress closely in this fight for his life. There are many others who are suffering as well.
I know the quilting community is always quick to respond to people in need. Somehow we feel as though putting a quilt around someone is like giving a big hug and sending our personal love and prayers. I am hoping you will help me send this support to John, and other victims as well.
We are providing a block pattern, and some fabric to anyone who will make a quilt block for us.
It has a place to sign your name and write a message. You will need to add a few strips of your own bright fabric in our color theme to complete this block. It is quick and easy and would mean so much. Please help us show our love and support for our fellow Americans.
The blocks are ready to be picked up at the shop now. We ask that you return them by Monday, May 13.
I know that's not much time but I have total confidence in our community that this is a project we can do.
If you would be willing to come to the shop and bring your sewing machine for a few hours on Monday, May 13 or Tuesday, May 14 it would be greatly appreciated.
We can finish the blocks and put the quilt tops together. If you do not have a sewing machine we can still use your help pressing, cutting and pinning!
Please call us and sign up for a time, 566-1250.
We are also looking for some quilters who would be willing to donate their time to quilt one of these. They will be very simple 60" x 60" and require nothing fancy.
Moda Fabrics, Hoffman California Fabrics and Robert Kaufman Fabrics are generously donating to this cause. I have personally felt your support in the past and I know we can do this together.
Thank you very much for your help with our Boston Strong Quilts!
Sincerely,
Roxanne
