Knitting Class - Basic 1 with Emily Cross

In this class Emily will teach you the basics of knitting. The skills covered will include: Cast On, the knit stitch, and bind off. We will put these skills together and knit an amazing scarf. I will have modifications for a cowl. Chunky yarn and big needles allow for instant gratification. No prior experience is required, just some enthusiasm and patience to learn something new!

When you continue into Knitting 2 and 3 you will be ready to take the more advance classes offered.

Emily Cross has been creating with fiber her whole life, although she maintains it is an urban myth that she was born knitting. She will cheerfully admit to sewing, quilting, felting, knitting and crocheting for over 40 years! In reviews, students have reported she is an extremely patient and encouraging teacher. To achieve this, she keeps class size small and intimate with only 4 to 6 students in each class.

Supply List :

Yarn

o 1 skien Chunky yarn #5 or 1 skien super Chunky #6

o These yarns need to be solid and light colored to make learning easier.

o No fuzzy yarns, just a smooth finish.
o Wool yarn is prefered. It has elasticity and makes knitting

easier

Needles
o Straight bamboo around 9”
o Go up 1 size from the yarn label.
o Forexample#6WoolEase,labelreads13,sobuya15 o Chunk yarn may read 10 1/2 needles, so buy an 11.
