Knitting Class - Basic 2 with Emily Cross

In this class Emily will teach you the next step in knitting, the purl stitch and seaming. We will put the skills from Basic 1 together and knit fingerless gloves.

Prior experience is Basic 1 class or the ability to cast on, knit, and bind off.

When you continue into Basic 3 you will be ready to take the more advance classes offered.

Choose from 2 sessions:

Saturday - February 15th - 10:30 - 12:30

OR

Thursday - February 27th - 10:30 - 12:30

Emily Cross has been creating with fiber her whole life, although she maintains it is an urban myth that she was born knitting. She will cheerfully admit to sewing, quilting, felting, knitting and crocheting for over 40 years! In reviews, students have reported she is an extremely patient and encouraging teacher. To achieve this, she keeps class size small and intimate with only 4 to 6 students in each class.

Supply List :

Yarn

o 1 skein Chunky yarn #5 or 1 skein super Chunky #6

o These yarns need to be solid and light colored to make learning easier.

o No fuzzy yarns, just a smooth finish.
o Wool yarn is preferred. It has elasticity and makes knitting easier

Needles
o Straight bamboo around 9”
o Go up 1 size from the yarn label.
o For example #6 Wool Ease, label reads 13, so buy a 15 - Chunk yarn may read 10 1/2 needles, so buy an 11.

General
o Scissors

o Yarn needle
